    About this opportunity:Do you have a few hours to spare each week? Later Life Choices Glenrothes are looking for enthusiastic, caring volunteers at their day sessions to help support older people and make a real difference to their lives.

    Day Service Volunteers attend day sessions from 10.30am to 2.30pm, Mondays to Thursdays. Reporting to the Session Coordinator and volunteering within a team of staff and volunteers, you will assist in providing activities and entertainment and help with serving meals and some light kitchen duties. You will also help to ensure a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and to promote and maintain client independence and confidence. All volunteers are PVG Scheme (background) checked and induction and training is provided. A full role description and application pack is available on request.

    Training provided:Their Service Support & Development Officer provides a comprehensive induction, including moving & handling and dementia awareness, and ongoing holds regular one to one support and development meetings with each volunteer. Training-whilst-volunteering is provided within the session by the Session Coordinator. From time-to-time external trainers visit to provide groups of staff/volunteers with additional training courses such as Emergency First Aid and Fire Safety Awareness.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Travel expenses are reimbursed at 45p per mile within the Glenrothes boundary for those driving in, and bus fares are capped at £5 per session on provision of tickets.

    Experience required:Experience of working/volunteering with/caring for older people, including people with dementia is desirable, however training is provided. A caring, professional approach to others is essential, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team. Reliability and a commitment to volunteering is also desirable.

    Travel DetailsOur Day Sessions are held at 100 Scott Road, Glenrothes, KY6 1AE which is within walking distance from the town centre and bus station and are on a bus route. There is street parking available.
