Grandmentors is an award-winning intergenerational mentoring programme delivered by Volunteering Matters. They recruit, train and support volunteer mentors, usually aged 50+, and match them with young people aged 16 to 26 who are care experienced, have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences, or are facing significant life challenges.
As a Grandmentor, you'll provide regular one-to-one support, encouragement and guidance, helping a young person build confidence, develop life skills and work towards goals that matter to them.
During this one-hour session you'll learn:
No previous mentoring experience is needed. They're looking for people with good communication skills, patience, reliability and a genuine desire to support young people.
Mentors usually volunteer for 2 - 3 hours each week or fortnight.
