This online course will help you gain a clear understanding of participatory budgeting and grant making, and the positive impact they can have on individuals and communities.
You will explore innovative approaches to budgeting and develop practical skills to bring people together through effective, face-to-face community engagement. You will also learn how to contribute to building more empowered and resilient communities, helping to address inequality by promoting shared decision-making and fairer distribution of resources.
This course will help you:
- Understand participatory budgeting and grant making, and their role within democracy in Scotland
- Recognise the benefits and impact of these approaches
- Identify ways to increase participation and community involvement
- Demonstrate an understanding of inequality and its effect on participation
- Explore and evaluate a local participatory budgeting or grant-making process
Who should take part?
This is a fully funded course for volunteers, those working in community-focused roles, and community council board members.
