This year, Young Trustees Movement is excited to be launching Across the Board, a brand new training offer for charity boards which aims to equip chairs & trustees with the knowledge and tools they need to embrace working with, recruiting and retaining young people.

    What is Across the Board?

Across the Board is a brand new training offer from Young Trustees Movement designed for charity boards. It aims to equip chairs and trustees with the knowledge and tools they need to embrace working with, recruiting and retaining young people in governance.

This training supports boards to move beyond intention and into practical, sustainable action.

    What will participants learn?

By the end of our Across the Board training, participants will have learnt:

    • How to identify the four levels of oppression (the Four I's) & how they can create barriers for young people in board settings.
    • How to communicate the case & moral imperative for diversity & inclusion on boards, including the unique value of young trustees in governance.
    • How to build a plan for attracting, onboarding & retaining young people onto boards that is in line with best anti-oppressive & inclusive practices.
    • How to build capacity for working with & retaining young people as an organisation in a way that is receptive to feedback, strengths-based, and sustainable.

If you're feeling stuck or unsure about how to progress diversifying your board, this is the training for you. Across the Board helps you set achievable goals in a mindful, anti-oppressive way that is designed to empower rather than exclude young people.

Who is Across the Board for?

Across the Board is designed for:

    • Charity Chairs
    • Trustees
    • Governance professionals
    • Boards looking to diversify their membership
    • Organisations seeking to recruit, support and retain young trustees

Whether you are at the beginning of your journey or looking to strengthen existing practice, this training provides a structured and anti-oppressive framework for meaningful change.

    How is the training delivered?

    Workshops will be delivered online.

They may also be able to accommodate requests for in-person delivery based on staff availability.

    How much does it cost?

They want their Across the Board to be accessible to charities of all shapes and sizes. That's why they're offering it at a sliding scale according to your charity's size:
