Membership in the PVG scheme is now a legal requirement for individuals carrying out a regulated role.
There is a three-month grace period (01 April to 30 June 2025) during which PVG scheme applications must be submitted for those who were in a regulated role prior to 01 April 2025.
They strongly recommend that if you have volunteers or staff who were in post before 01 April and need to obtain PVG membership due to their regulated role, you submit the application request to VSDS as soon as possible. Please note that VSDS cannot guarantee requests submitted in June will be processed in time to ensure compliance.
They update our website daily with their 'working on' date, which can be found here. You can use this information to estimate when we may process your request. For example:
- If today's date is 01 May
- Today's 'working on' date is 15 April
- The 'working on' date indicates that they are working to roughly a 12-day turnaround, meaning they are processing application requests received 12 working days ago
- If you submit an application request on 01 June they will likely be processing it around 19 June
Please note that their 'working on' date may fluctuate depending on the volume of incoming applications and available resource. Therefore, it is imperative that you submit your applications as soon as possible to guarantee that you meet the deadline. Find our working on date on their website here.
