UNCRC - Children's Rights Workforce Survey
Created: 24/05/2024On 07 December 2023, the Scottish Parliament unanimously passed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill for the second time. The Bill received Royal Assent on 16 January 2024 and is now the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act. It comes into force on 16 July 2024.
It's essential that organisations are aware of this and that legal requirements are met when developing policies and plans or delivering services. The UNCRC is an international agreement that protects the rights of children up to the age of 18.
Protecting children's rights and considering the needs of different groups are already important elements of the work we all do. But, as with everything new, the legislation might mean we all need to adapt some of our current processes or help people learn more about the topic.
Staff from Fife Council, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership and the third sector have developed a workforce survey in relation to the UNCRC and the current understanding of children's rights. The deadline for the survey is 07 June 2024.
