    Costs
    This event is free to attend but to encourage attendance and try and ensure a good turnout to benefit all delegates, we will charge a non-attendance fee of £15.00 per delegate. By submitting a booking for this event you agree to pay this fee for those delegates who have places booked but do not attend.

    Cancellations can be received up to 5 working days ahead of the event, thus avoiding non-attendance fees. A cancellation will only be valid if we have confirmed it with you. You can send somebody else in place of a booked delegate without incurring a non-attendance fee.


    This three-hour session is designed to help you expand or refresh your knowledge of LGBTQ+ identity.

    The session aims to:

    • Create an understanding of the differences between sex, sexuality and gender and their fluidity
    • Build knowledge of how Minority Stress and societal reaction impacts on LGBTQ+ people
    • Explore Intersectionality and Microaggression
    • Exploring how we can help others to build resilience

    The session will be facilitated in a interactive and informative way. They will be doing some small and large groupwork throughout.

    Facilitator - Aileen McCormack - is a Person Centred Counsellor, Supervisor (Individual and group) and FE Lecturer in Counselling, working in Glasgow and Edinburgh. She is also a member of BACP. Aileen has been working with the LGBTQ+ community for a number of years as a LGBTQ+ charity volunteer and Supervisor, working in therapy within the community and training students in LGBTQ+ awareness.

    How to book

    This training is free for Youth 1st members and their partners in the Uniformed Youth Work Sector. All others will be charged £15 (plus a small Eventbrite fee) per head.

    Please give notice of non attendance, failure to do so may effect your booking on future training. They will also charge a £15 no show fee.
