    The Scottish Government have published the first round of annual social work statistics for 2022-23. From this year, child protection statistics will be published separately to looked-after and secure care.

    Whilst there is a small increase (4%) to the total number of children registered at 31 July 2023 compared to the previous year, the total number of registrations over the course of the year decreased by 2% - and had decreased by 24% compared to a decade prior.
