Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults - Year 4 Funding Announced
Created: 25/03/2024The Scottish Government has announced they have £15 million available in 2024/25 for a fourth year of the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults. This is a reflection of the importance of prevention and early intervention approach in protecting peoples' mental health and wellbeing and the vital role of communities in delivering this. It aims to build on important work that third sector interfaces (TSIs) and partners have been doing through this Fund since 2021.
Launched in 2021, the fund for adults has supported grass roots community groups to deliver programmes for adults which build resilience and tackle social isolation, loneliness and mental health inequalities. Projects focused on connecting people and providing peer support were delivered through activities such as sport, outdoor activities and the arts.
Within the first two years, the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults has provided around 3,300 grants to community organisations delivering mental health and wellbeing support. An independent evaluation of Year 1 of the Fund was published in July 2023 and shows that 1,842 projects delivered a range of community supports to an estimated 300,000 people across Scotland.
The Administration and Capacity Building Grant has also been agreed and will be paid at the same rate as Year 3, which is £734,000.
Given the successful management of the Fund by TSIs across Scotland, TSIs will continue to be the delivery model for Year 4.
