FVAWP - Engaging Safely with Male Perpetrators of Domestic Abuse
Created: 19/03/2024This course if the first of its kind in Scotland. The aim is to ensure that the safety of women and children is the primary goal of all work with male perpetrators.
Often, practitioners support families where domestic abuse is a central dynamic in the family home. While many practitioners receive comprehensive training about how to support survivors and their children impacted by domestic abuse, there are limited learning opportunities for working directly with the perpetrators. Understandably, practitioners worry about increasing risk to women and children.
About the training
The training provides participants with an introduction and overview to engaging safely with male perpetrators of domestic abuse. It also lookat tactics commonly used by perpetrators of domestic abuse and effective communication methods that could be used to engage with them.
It also provides a safe space for practitioners to consider and discuss concerns, challenges, and solutions for working with families expericing domestic abuse.
