Lunchtime Learning - Stigma, Discrimination and the Stigma Toolkit
Created: 04/03/2024FVA lunchtime learning sessions are aimed at raising the skills and capacities of local service providers interested in improving or enhancing their provision in Fife.
Many clients using third sector services come from backgrounds likely to include experiences of stigma and discrimination. We support those at risk of poverty and isolation – people who may be in difficulty for any number of a huge variety of reasons, very often including socially ingrained inequalities.
All of us, as third and public sector workers, need to be able to make contact with our clients in ways that are positive, reassuring and empowering for everybody on all sides.
Knowledge of the challenges faced by those who have faced unfair treatment through unexamined or unconscious bias is a vital tool for anyone who is going to meet with those in difficulty and talk through their problems from a place of understanding, safe guidance and co-operation.
At this session, Stevan Sutherland from Clued Up will share the Stigma Toolkit, a co-produced resource developed as an aid to support thinking and challenging stigma at a local level to help improve outcomes for families and individuals.
Participants will find out more about:
