FVA volunteers step up for Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal
Created: 14/12/2023A group of volunteers organised by Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) gave their time to wrap kids’ Christmas gifts as part of Salvation Army’s Toy Appeal in Kirkcaldy.
The volunteers included individuals who have completed FVA’s Step Into Volunteering training programme, some of which have come through Go, a pilot school volunteering project in Fife which is coordinated by Fife Council, which FVA is a partner.
Carmen Deas completed her Step Into Volunteering training and received her certificate of completion on the day, as well as helping fellow volunteers to wrap presents. The group was also joined by FVA volunteer Esther and her son Joshua. Many volunteers and staff from FVA donated their time and present-wrapping skills to bring much-needed gifts, joy and hope to children in Kirkcaldy and the surrounding area, with all presents wrapped and ready to be delivered across the community.
Kirkcaldy Salvation Army’s Christmas appeal aims to meet local community needs, and one way is through their toy appeal. People donate gifts which are then given to children who have been referred from schools, health workers, social services or charities, to ensure they have a present for Christmas.
