  • GIRFE - A proposed multi-agency approach to health and social care support

    Created: 14/12/2023
News/Events Category: Health and Social Care

Fife is working with the Scottish Government to develop a new practice framework called GIRFE (getting it right for everyone). GIRFE will be a way of working that will put the person at the heart of every decision about their own health and social care needs. It will also help different parts of the Health and Social Work and Social Care system to join up making it easier to share information and work together.

Over the last nine months they have engaged with more than 200 people with lived experience and people who assess for or provide services to people in Fife. This has helped us to understand what is working well or not so well during the transition from children to adult services or accessing services as an adult with a complex health and or care need.

    Your feedback said:

    • Staff and families need more support
    • There is a need for more consistent provision of information
    • Families would welcome greater co-ordination of care, treatment, and support arrangements
    • There was concern about the availability of some resources such as respite and day services
    • More specialist training is needed for staff and carers

    Moving forward.

To help the team start to mitigate some of the local Fife challenges you shared around accessing support, information, and the navigation of services, they would like to hear your views and your thoughts on:

    • A team around the person
    • A dedicated care coordinator

This survey provides you with the opportunity to inform and shape our initial development towards a more integrated and supportive model. We will build on the information that you share with us here, as we develop the new way of working for Fife.

This consultation will take you around 10-15 minutes to complete.
