    Are you a young carer aged 16,17, or 18 who spends around 16 hours per week caring for someone? If you are, then you could be entitled to the Social Security Scotland's Young Carer Grant. 

    The payment of £359.65 can be applied for annually. How you spend your grant is up to you.

    Not sure if you're a young carer? If you meet some of the criteria below most days of the week or every day, then you may be a young carer who is eligible to apply for the grant. 

    • You look after someone in your family, a friend, or neighbour 
    • Caring for a parent or someone with children such as a brother, sister or young child 
    • You help someone with their mental health and give them emotional support (i.e. help during a panic attack, help them through a crisis, check on them throughout the day, make sure they're safe)
    • You help them during an illness, support a disability, or support an addiction (i.e. help them get around, dress them, give them medication, help them shower or use the toilet, cook meals for them, do their food shopping, or translate for them)
