NCSC: New guidance on shadow IT published

News/Events Category: TechnologyThe National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) recently published new guidance that explains what shadow IT is, how to mitigate it, and why it's something you should avoid.
Shadow IT is the name given to technology and systems used within an organisation without the knowledge and approval of decision-makers (such as the management team or IT staff). It's a risk because it creates additional vectors for cyber attack that are left unguarded, so your organisation becomes more open to attacks leading to data loss, damaged equipment, and required service recovery time.
Fife Voluntary Action regularly runs training and offers bespoke support on how to keep your organisation safe when working with technology both on and offline, including how to deal with Shadow IT.
