After a 3-year hiatus, Fife’s leading employability networking event – Know Your Network – made a dynamic return to the Kingdom last week, with over 180 staff and 30+ services coming together to make connections, hear the latest on local employability, and take part in hot topic conversations.

Taking place at the Glen Pavilion in Dunfermline on the 09 November 2022, Know Your Network (KYN) 2022 allowed providers working in Fife’s employability sector to engage with diverse and pressing topics such as trauma-informed approaches to employability, climate change and climate action, youth employment, and the current landscape of employability in Fife. The event hosted a marketplace of over 30 stalls where services were able to provide information on their services and learn about the valuable work of others.

KYN is funded by Opportunities Fife Partnership (OFP), with Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) supporting the planning and delivery of the event. Wider support came from the planning team which included representation from Department for Work and Pensions, Fife College, Fife Council, Skills Development Scotland, third sector partners such as Kingdom Works and the OFP Partnership Manager.

For the first time, KYN 2022 was a low carbon event, with a delicious vegetarian buffet, accessible public transport links to the venue, and local company, AVDept were chosen to provide the audio visual support for their climate friendly track record. All of this was achieved with support and guidance from Climate Action Fife.

Gordon Mole, Head of Business and Employability at Fife Council, said:

‘‘Fife has a strong and well-developed partnership approach to employability delivery across the public and third sectors, and benefits from a thriving and diverse range of services. Know Your Network brings everyone together to help build a collective, and connected, approach to helping people into work to make Fife the best place to do business, work and live’

Pegs Bailey, Employability Development Manager at Fife Voluntary Action, said:

“{KYN 2022} had a real buzz… all participants got to dive into really important topics relevant to employability in Fife. There is so much energy in Fife to make our employability pathway the best it can be.”

Ian Patterson, Funding and Partnerships Officer at the Venture Trust, said:

“This was the first time that the Venture Trust have been involved, but I’m sure it won’t be the last as it was such a worthwhile event for us and hopefully for the others we engaged with during the day.”
