    Post: Environmental Policy Support Officer

    Hours: Part-time (18 hours per week)

    Salary: £24,309.00 - £27,312.43 pro rata

    Contract: This post is a fixed-term post for 1 year

    Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) is an independent charitable trust who works to promote, manage, and maintain Fife's exceptional outdoor spaces; connecting environment and people.

    It is an organisation driven by a passion for Fife's natural heritage and a commitment to promoting understanding and care for the natural environment; and is currently seeking an 'Environmental Policy Support Officer' who will carry out audit work, including site visits and provision of quality assessments to inform the development of Fife's Open Space Strategy, Play Sufficiency Assessment and Woodland Strategy.

Reporting directly to the Head of Conservation & Engagement, the successful candidate will work in partnership with Fife Council's Greenspace and Planning Officers to assist in the development of Fife's Open Space Strategy.

    Essential characteristics:

    • Educated to SCQF Level 9 which includes a degree or equivalent in Landscape Architecture or Countryside Management or a relevant environment degree.
    • Experience of site assessment, including assessment of design, layout, landscape design and quality of open spaces, features and facilities.
    • Knowledge of habitats and ecology, types of habitats, native plant species and invasive species.
    • Report writing skills.
    • Time management skills and experience of working to deadlines.
    • Organisational skills and confidence to take initiative as required.
    • Ability to travel to and work from various locations throughout Fife independently, by the use of car or small van IT Skills (Embrace technology & information), competent with Microsoft suite of products and on-line conferencing platforms
    • A full UK driving licence or access to a driver if disability prevents driving.
