    News/Events Category: General News

Suicide Prevention Awareness Week takes place this year from 05–11 September incorporating World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September. Fife Health and Social Care Partnership Health Promotion Service have collaborated with partners including Samaritans, NHS Fife, Fife Council, Fife Voluntary Action, and Families in Trauma & Recovery to support Suicide Prevention Week with its own local perspective, focussing on the emotional impact related to the cost-of-living crisis.

Raising awareness of suicide prevention and giving the public information is vital. The cost-of-living crisis is impacting on everyone regardless of job or income. We are all examining our outgoings and thinking about where we can make savings. For some, this might mean cutting back on activities that you enjoy, such as meals out or cinema trips. For others, it will mean facing fundamental choices in relation to food or heating costs.

Whatever the situation, the campaign aims to highlight the emotional impact of the decisions that individuals and families are facing. There are many ways to get involved and support this year’s campaign:

    • Social Media Toolkit: This provides information on how to use the intended social media script on your own platforms. The toolkit can be downloaded here.
    • Campaign Resource Pack: This will help you to create a display to raise awareness of the campaign. If you require further resources, please contact [email protected] or download here.
    • Campaign Website: This contains further information and practical resources.
    • Learning Opportunities: This will help develop your own knowledge, skills and confidence. For further information, please click here.
    • Samaritan’s Information Stalls are taking place across Fife throughout the week.
    • Kingdom FM campaign: Why not listen out for promotion on the campaign throughout the week.
    • Information on the campaign can be found in this SWAY

Please note the campaign website is embargoed until Monday 05 September. The QR codes on the posters and resources will link to this website when it goes live.
