About this opportunity:Community councils are the most local tier of statutory representation in Scotland. They bridge the gap between local authorities and communities and help to make public bodies aware of the opinions and needs of the communities they represent.

The Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council (RBSTACC) is looking for someone to type up the monthly notes/minutes of the full Community Council meeting (but not verbatim) from a zoom recording. This will become an historical record which is available to the public as well as Community Councilors.

It is a role that could be of interest to someone who is interested in the St Andrews Community area and in local government.

As it is from a live meeting zoom recording (due to the pandemic), there is no travel involved.

The volunteer will be required for about 3-4 hours per month to listen to the recording and to type up the minutes. There is also the option of attending the actual meeting remotely to get acquainted with the members. In time they hope to get back to face to face in person meetings. They are looking for a volunteer with Audio Typing and minutes composition with a reasonable typing speed.

Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!

Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
