Our Board of Directors is committed to this mission, and we expect members to bring their wide range of skills, knowledge, expertise, objectivity, insight and strategic thought to the table. They involve themselves in our work and steer and drive our organization to achieve increasingly better results. We are looking for experienced and passionate people to join our Board of Directors and assist us in strategic development and governance. We are looking for new Board Members who can help us expand the range of skills around the table. Candidates do not need experience or knowledge of Enterprise or employability but must be committed and passionate about making a difference for the communities we support. At this time, we are seeking individuals who have held, senior roles in your sector, preferably with experience of setting strategy and managing senior teams.
Induction and ongoing training and support for volunteers available.
Essential experience required includes:-
5 years working at a senior/strategic commercial/private sector leadership level.
An understanding of strategic financial planning and management.
Understanding of governance and regulated sectors (public or private).
Desirable experience includes:-
Awareness of the voluntary sector in general and issues affecting service users in particular those furthest away from the labour market.
Knowledge of financial management and/or accounting.
Property development and asset management.
Social enterprise and community engagement.
We are looking for volunteers who are able to think strategically and creatively, have excellent written and spoken communication skills, an ability to analyse and critique information and are committed to the work of the charity.
Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
