    Social & Community Capital is a charity funded by Royal Bank of Scotland to help social enterprises, charities and community businesses. They provide funding and support for organisations based in the key focus areas of Midlands, North West of England and Scotland who don't qualify for mainstream finance.

    There are four loans to meet different needs:

    1. Property Purchase Loan: Funding to renovate or purchase a property. Apply for £30k to £500k.
    2. Flexible Growth Funding: Looking to grow and increase your impact. Apply for £30k to £350k.
    3. Working Capital Loan Flexible finance to cover overheads and smooth out cashflow. Apply for £30k to £250k.
    4. Bridging Loan: Pay VAT or cover overheads before grant funding arrives. Apply for £30k to £250k.

    Who can apply?

    Business charities and social enterprises that don't qualify for mainstream loans. You don’t need to be a Royal Bank of Scotland customer to apply. Eligibility criteria:

    • You’re an established third sector organisation in the UK.
    • Your work has a positive social impact in the UK.
    • You’re financially sustainable and have income sources other than grants.
    • You can show that you’ll be able to pay back the loan.
    • You can show you’re investment ready in terms of management, governance, and financial position.
    • You have at least four directors or trustees on your board.
    • You’re not eligible for mainstream funding from banks.
    • You help people in one of the key areas: a) Employment, education, and training for those furthest from the job market b) Services for the most disadvantaged people or communities c) Community regeneration.

    You deliver impact within the key focus areas of Midlands, North West of England and Scotland.
