Volunteer Managers' Network (VMN)

  • Volunteers are the lifeblood of the third sector. Skilled, experienced and motivated volunteers enable us to improve lives and communities. Therefore, recruiting, training and supporting volunteers is crucial. Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) facilitates a Volunteer Managers' Network (VMN) across Fife. Membership is free and open to all organisations and community groups registered with FVA. It is designed for staff members or volunteers who play a key role in their organisation for recruiting, training or supporting volunteers.

    Network meetings are held at least 4 times a year and often take the form of a speaker, question and answer session or participatory workshops, with Network members being encouraged to suggest topics for discussion. Lone workers, in particular, find the meetings invaluable as an opportunity to meet, discuss and exchange concerns and experiences with others in the sector. Following each meeting, a write-up is circulated by e-mail to the Network. It contains a summary of the meeting, plus supporting documentation and/or presentations for reference.

    Whether you are new to volunteer management or have many years' experience, VMN offers the opportunity to:
    • network;
    • raise the profile of your organisation;
    • share good practice;
    • meet like-minded people;
    • increase/share your knowledge and expertise;
    • raise issues in relation to volunteer management.
