    About this opportunity:LINK works with 12-18 year olds who have become isolated due to mental health issues.
    They aim to assist the young people to increase their resilience, confidence, social skills and self esteem through the support of a consistent and reliable befriender.
    With the young person, you might decide to go out to various activities (there's a monthly budget for this) or find other ways of support and contact. Volunteers don't need to have experience of mental health - training and support for the volunteer is provided.
    If you can spare a couple of hours a fortnight, would like to help young people, have a positive attitude, good listening skills, and a sense of fun, LINK would like to hear from you.

    Takes place:

    Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
    Training provided:Volunteers will receive training and ongoing support and supervision. There will also be personal development opportunities.

    Yes - Travel and out-of-pocket expenses are paid, up to a set monthly amount.

    Experience required:Positive attitude, good listening skills, good organisation skills, empathy, sense of fun, reliability and consistency, experience of mental health issues not necessary.
