    About this opportunity:The Children's Clothing Bank Dunfermline accept donations of new and best quality pre-loved clothing for children (aged 0-18). They receive referrals from health visitors, social workers, support workers and other local organisations. They have a range of roles for volunteers and at any time, you can switch from one to another:

    Sorters - you will sift through donations and quality check them before sorting into the appropriate age group.

    Pickers - from their stock, you will pick the items requested in the referral, check them over for quality and then place into bags to pass on to our ironers/finishers.

    Ironers/Finishers - you will receive a bag of clothes which have been selected for a particular child. You will give them a final check over before ironing, folding and packing them into 'gift bags'. This role is done in your own home and clothes need to be collected from our premises and returned during opening hours or by arrangement.

    Training provided:All volunteers will receive an induction from one of our trustees which will include: -information about CCBD including their vision, mission and future plans; -a tour round their premises and an overview of procedures and policies - including health and safety, confidentiality, Covid-19, equality/diversity and support available; -information about the specific volunteer role you will be undertaking; and -the chance to meet other volunteers.

    Experience required:For sorting and picking, no special skills or experience are needed. For ironing, the volunteer only needs to be able to iron to a domestic level. Volunteers should be keen team-workers, willing to learn the ropes and keep up high standards regarding the clothing distributed. You should also be reliable, courteous and non-judgemental, adhering to policies of inclusion, equality and diversity as well as to health and safety requirements.

A short walk from Dunfermline bus station or if travelling by car, there is a pay car park opposite the premises (Glen Bridge Car Park) which currently costs £1.10 for two hours. Alternatively, free parking is available at Pittencrieff Park Car Park, a five minute stroll away.
