    About this opportunity:The ever popular Fife Folk Museum, Ceres (a series of 17th Century buildings and gardens) is appealing to those who have in the past or who would like in the future to take up a role as a volunteer.

    They have excellent feedback from visitors and are keen for the Museum to be open to the public throughout the season from 1st April to 31st October. They rely on a team of volunteers mainly needed on the reception desk, greeting the visitors. Two volunteers are required on duty for each morning or afternoon session, Wednesday to Sunday 10.30 - 1.15 pm / 1.15 pm - 4.00 pm. Also, your ideas for future exhibitions would be greatly welcomed.

    Volunteering can add to your skills and experience, help you gain confidence, meet new people and give a feeling of satisfaction working as a team towards a common goal.

    Training provided:The person would be asked to fill in a volunteer application form after which they will be invited to the museum usually on a Monday morning for an informal chat that would include agreeing which day would be most suitable and whether a morning or afternoon shift would suit best. If successful the prospective volunteer would be paired up with an experienced volunteer on reception. The pairing would continue until the person felt able to be on duty on their own. If not they would continue working with another.

    Experience required:No special skills are needed to become a volunteer other than enthusiasm, reliability, an interest in the Museum and its exhibits and dealing with the public. Training is given on a variety of tasks to suit each volunteer.
