    About this opportunity:The Telephone Befriending project began when a need arose in direct response to the isolation felt by many at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Although we are getting "back to normal" there are still many in the community who feel isolated and alone. In response to this ongoing need, FVA has decided to continue and develop the Telephone Befriending project. Could you be a Telephone Befriending Volunteer? Do you like having a chat? Do you like hearing people's stories and experiences? Do you want to make a difference to someone's day? Do you want to help improve people's mental health and well-being? Do you want to help people feel more connected in their local communities? We are looking for people aged over 18 with great listening skills, empathy and some understanding of the effects of loneliness and isolation, through their own lived experience or that of friends or family members.

    Takes place:
    Minimum age:18
    Maximum age:100
    Training provided:Befriending training covering Confidentiality, Boundaries, Support, Communications and Building strong relationships
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - If training is provided at one of FVA's offices the cost of public transport (with receipts) or the cost of mileage (45p per mile) will be paid to the volunteers
