    with Dunfermline Advocacy

    Volunteer Opportunity No. VO83575 - Created/last updated: 15/06/2020

About this opportunity:Due to Covid-19 we have currently stopped all face to face meetings but continue to look for new volunteers. Dunfermline Advocacy remains committed to making sure vulnerable adults in West Fife are supported with their advocacy needs. We are continuing all work via phone, email and video calling.

The Friendship Changing Lives Project supports vulnerable adults within local communities across West Fife, who are affected by loneliness and isolation, from young adults to older adults.
Citizen Advocates come from all walks of life and have a shared commitment to help vulnerable adults. Citizen Advocates provide invaluable support and friendship through:
Listening to someone in need, trying to understand the challenges they face, their point of view, what makes them feel good and valued.
Understanding their situation and what may be stopping them from getting what they want.
Offering support to tell other people what they want or introducing them to others who may be able to help.
Helping someone to know what choices they have and what the consequences of these choices might be.
Enabling a person to become more independent and have more control over their life.
Encourage hobbies and interests, so that mutually enjoyed activities can be shared.
Improving social networks to reduce social isolation.

    Takes place:
    Minimum age:16
    Maximum age:100
Training provided:Every volunteer will be required to undergo a PVG check, provide 2 character references and complete the Advocate Preparation Training before being matched with a vulnerable adult.
