Nourish are a registered charity based in Kirkcaldy who provide support for families who have additional support needs. They do this by running several groups throughout the week. These groups include a group for adults with additional support needs, family support groups and dads' groups; in addition, once a month, Nourish holds a family fun day for families with additional support needs.
The organisation provides support for adults with, and families who have children with, additional support needs. Groups are run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Nourish are looking for volunteers who can come along and support in the kitchen so we can provide lunches to their members. This will help with the fundraising as well as providing hot lunches for their members. Food hygiene training would be required which we can support with.
There will be an inductyion day where volunteers can come in for: discussions; a look around; more information about Nourish and what they do; an opportunity to see the kitchen; and to discuss the types of things they will be asked to support with. As such this will be an opportunity to ask questions and to find out about the volunteer expenses policy.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - Nourish has a policy in place for paying volunteer expenses, where the amount paid depends on how far travelled and if costs are incurred. This will be discussed during induction.
Experience in a kitchen would be preferred but not essential. Each person who would like to take part in this opportunity would be required to obtain a food hygiene certificate and ensure they were maintaining good food hygiene standards.
