Nourish are a registered charity based in Kirkcaldy who provide support for families who have additional support needs. They do this by running several groups throughout the week. These groups include a group for adults with additional support needs, family support groups and dads' groups; in addition, once a month, Nourish holds a family fun day for families with additional support needs.
They have a variety of activities for families to take part in. These are usually well attended and lots of fun. They are looking for several volunteers for this. Tasks would include helping to set up an activity area, support families/children to access/play take part, then clear area away at the end of the session. They also require someone to make teas/coffees at these events and someone to run our tuck shop. This would be one Sunday per month from 1-5pm.
Nourish will hold an induction day for volunteers, which will include: a discussion about who Nourish are and what they do; information about the family fun days and why they hold them; what would be required of volunteers; a look around; taking part in clearing away that day's activities to get an idea of what would be required; and an opportunity to ask questions.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - Nourish have a policy in place for paying volunteers' expenses, and the amount paid depends on how far travelled and if costs are incurred. This will be discussed at the induction event.
No experience is required, but volunteers should enjoy spending time with children, and can commit to helping one Sunday per month.
Restrictions on who can volunteer
There is an advertised minimum age for this opportunity, but Nourish would consider someone younger if they felt they could take on this role responsibility.
