Greener Kirkcaldy's Community Fridge redistributes surplus food from local businesses, organisations and individuals. We receive donations daily, and anyone is welcome to come and take food from the fridge. The fridge is open Monday - Friday. We are looking for volunteers to collect food donations from local businesses and to drop it off at the Greener Kirkcaldy premises. Most pick-ups will be in Kirkcaldy. Other duties may include sorting out the food to go into the fridges, taking a recording food temperatures and speaking to people about the food within the fridges. Volunteers would be required to use their own car.
Current collection times are: Monday and Tuesdays 9am: Aldi Ferrard Road and Lidl Thursday 9am: Aldi McKenzie Street and Co-op Bennochy Road Friday 9am: Aldi McKenxzie Street & Co-op Bennochy Road
Volunteers receive induction and training, followed by on going training and discussion. Relevant external training can be offered to volunteers e.g. REHIS Food Hygiene.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - 45p per mile by BACS.

Interest in food and reducing food waste would be an advantage and knowledge of the local area would also help.
