Age Concern Glenrothes (ACG) seek an enthusiastic person with a financial background to oversee the organisation’s finances and to share responsibility with our other Board members for ensuring ACG is run effectively and efficiently. ACG provides services for older people in the Glenrothes area that enhance their quality of life by encouraging interaction, mental & physical activity and companionship. Your experience and expertise will contribute to providing the services needed to meet this aim. This opportunity allows you to further develop your skills and gives you a very real feeling of actively helping vulnerable people. By joining their Board of Directors as Treasurer you will be responsible for producing financial reports for funders, producing a realistic budget, advising and guiding the Board on the financial implications of the charity’s strategy, and understanding the accounting procedures and key internal controls to be able to assure the Board of the organisation’s financial integrity.
The Chair is happy to chat informally by phone with potential applicants to give more details about board membership and the Treasurer’s role, to discuss the individual’s skills and experience, and to answer any questions.
Upon receipt of a completed application form applicants will be invited for interview with the Chair and one other Board member or Manager.
Initial induction training is conducted by the Chair who will explain how ACG operates, its goals, current issues and opportunities, and how the organisation is involved with the wider community (including our sponsors). A comprehensive induction pack is supplied.
A meeting with the Centre Manager will then be arranged to look at existing financial processes, budgets etc.
