About this opportunity: | The aim of Care and Share Companionship is to provide support to people aged 60 and above who are living in isolation or loneliness in the Kirkcaldy area. We offer volunteer companionship to help improve health, well-being and confidence. Volunteer companions provide face to face, telephone or shopping support giving their time from 30 minutes to two or three hours. Going for short walks together, attending groups of interest, going to local café for tea/coffee or just chatting with a '˜Friend' will build a rapport and establish mutual respect and understanding giving both the Friend and Volunteer a positive experience. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Training provided: | Volunteers will be given full induction training covering Care & Share Companionship Policies, Being a Volunteer with Care and Share Companionship, Boundaries, Expense Procedures, Reporting Processes and Adult Protection. Review & Reflections sessions will be carried out with each Volunteer every 3 months and Volunteers can request additional training at these sessions if required. Monthly Newsletters will contain information on Care and Share activity and health & wellbeing. Volunteer Coordinator will be Administrator on Private Facebook page for peer support. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Out of pocket expenses paid? | Yes - Mileage expenses are paid monthly at 45p per mile. Public Transport costs are paid monthly on proof of travel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Experience required: | No formal experience necessary, being able to listen and have a good conversation is all that is needed | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Restrictions on who can volunteer | <18 can apply however, they need parental consent to volunteer | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
