The main tasks are:- Ask clients the appropriate questions from the benefit claim form. This may require rephrasing the questions slightly, or of giving examples, to help the client understand what is being asked. Listen to the client and let the client fully explain the difficulties they may have. Complete the appropriate benefit claim form as per the client's answers. This may be done by hand or in some instances completed online. Record basic details of the clients' health problems on their enquiry record. Attend local team meetings for updates and mutual sharing of information. Read Quality of Advice feedback and action any relevant comments.

Training will be arranged on an individual basis, with practical sessions in the office; shadowing more experienced advice assistants; highlighting relevant policies; basic interview skills; ill health benefits and case recording skills.

Yes - Travel expenses are paid for petrol at 45p per mile or actual public transport costs. Expenses are paid on a monthly basis directly into a bank account.
