    About this opportunity:Our volunteers support older people with their recovery from elder abuse. This might include physical, financial, emotional or sexual abuse, or neglect. The aim of our project is to support older people to regain self-esteem, confidence and independence. Although the role includes befriending, we anticipate it goes further than this by helping the older person recover from their experience, and regain the skills and confidence to eventually move on from the project.
    Volunteers will meet with the older person either in their own home or a neutral environment, and might provide:
    - befriending / emotional support
    - encouragement and support to get out and about
    - taking part in activities together
    - help them with the skills they need to be more confident and resilient

    Takes place:
    Minimum age:18
    Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
    Training provided:We will provide comprehensive training and ongoing support, and certificates for completed training
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - We will provide any phone and travel costs.

    Experience required:Enjoy working with older people. Excellent communication and listening skills. Able to build rapport with older people, and/or people in distress. Able to provide empathy, advice and support in a clear and professional manner. Willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months. We will arrange and pay for relevant PVG checks

    Travel DetailsSupporting people in person, in one-to-one and/or group settings anywhere in Fife. The volunteer may support the older person in their own home, a care home, community centre or other local settings.
