About this opportunity: | Glenrothes & Levenmouth District Scouts are looking for a District Treasurer who will manage and report on funds currently c.£45k; collect and bank income and be principal cheque signatory. Scouting is the largest youth organisation in the UK. Scotland, with devolved management from the rest of the UK, is divided into 4 regions. G & L District, within the East Scotland Region, comprises 7 Scout Groups, consisting of Beaver Colonies (6-8 years), Cub Packs (8-10.5), Scout Troop (10.5-14), and Explorer Units (14-18). Scout Network (18-24) operates at a District and Regional level. Groups have a high operational autonomy but are overseen and supported by District Commissioners (responsible for programme and activities), and the District Executive (responsible for securing finance and facilities to allow programmes and activities to run). G & L District hold funding of about £45k to support the individual groups. The current sum is higher than normal owing to the efficient running of activities and bringing them in below budget. The Treasurer requires having reasonable financial knowledge to:- Operate the income and expenditure accounts system used. Prepare quarterly reports for Executive meetings. Prepare annual statement and submit copies to Regional executive and OSCR. Oversee and report on any concerns regarding Group financial matters. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
