Volunteering Opportunity Details

  • Volunteer Support Group Coordinator
    with The Linda Tremble Foundation

    Volunteer Opportunity No. VO64743 - Created/last updated: 28/11/2019

About this opportunity:The Foundation is an established charity for people with an eating disorder. They have support groups in Fife, Glasgow and Perth. In Fife they run two facilitated groups on the same evening, one for people (aged over 18) suffering from eating disorders, and the other for their families and carers to help them beat the illness. These groups are confidential, supportive, informal, friendly, caring and always respect privacy.

Enthusiastic co-ordinators are needed to support the group facilitators and the role would suit a person who is good at managing, arranging venues, liaising with facilitators and members, organising activities and promoting the meetings. This is an interesting and rewarding role. Full training is provided.
No prior experience of eating disorders is necessary.

Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all psychiatric disorders. This is therefore a valuable opportunity to make a significant difference to people's lives by helping sufferers and their families to discuss their feelings and concerns, to provide information and support and to look towards a more positive future.

    Takes place:
    Minimum age:18
Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
Training provided:All volunteers will be required to complete the charity's Volunteer Recruitment Process. This includes completing an application form, attending an informal interview and supplying the names of two referees. Successful applicants will receive induction training outlining the criteria for the role. All volunteers will receive ongoing help and support.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?

The volunteer should be able to organise room bookings, social activities and external events; organise and maintain an email circulation list of members and attendees.
