We would like to enlist the support of a volunteer befriender for the ladies and gentlemen of Canmore Lodge care home. The home offers care and support to frail older people, people with physical disabilities and older people living with dementia who are supported in a dedicated 'Memory Lane' community. The befriending visits would involve working with our existing activities staff in house and spending quality time with our residents for social stimulation. This could be time spent reading a local newspaper to a small group, flower arranging or helping to support with musical entertainers when they visit the home.
no upper age limit has been specified
The befriender/volunteer will be shadowing our own activities staff in the home for the initial 6 week trial period. Induction training would include fire training and adult protection training.
