    About this opportunity:This is an established charity with support groups in Fife, Glasgow and Perth. In Fife they run two groups on the same evening, one for sufferers over 18, and the other for families and carers. These groups are confidential, supportive, informal, friendly, caring and respect privacy.

    The volunteers need to be good listeners and able of offer support and encouragement in a non-judgemental manner. A good knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental health issues, particularly eating disorders would be advantageous although no prior experience of eating disorders or being a facilitator is necessary as a comprehensive training package is provided. Volunteers will be supported in their role by experienced people who are knowledgeable about eating disorders.

    Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all psychiatric disorders. This is therefore a valuable opportunity to make a significant difference to people's lives by helping sufferers and their families.

    Takes place:
    Minimum age:18
    Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
    Training provided:Successful applicants will receive induction training outlining the criteria for the role. Group Facilitators will receive a full day?s training which will be arranged annually. All volunteers will receive ongoing help and support.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Either public transport costs or mileage rates where applicable. If travelling by your own car mileage rates will be paid, at present this is 35p per mile.

    Restrictions on who can volunteer
    If the volunteer has previously had an eating disorder they must have been fully recovered for at least 2 years before they take on this role.

    Travel DetailsThe venue is St Bryce Kirk in Kirkcaldy, Fife, meeting on the first Tuesday in every second month at 7pm. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
