    About this opportunity:Do you have a few hours to spare each week?
    Age Concern are looking for enthusiastic, caring volunteers to help support older people at their sessions and make a real difference to the lives of others.
    Their Day Service Volunteers attend for 3 hours per session every morning and afternoon on weekdays. Reporting to the Session Coordinator and working within a team of staff and volunteers they assist in providing activities, entertainment, and help with the preparation of a snack for clients. They also help to ensure a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and to promote and maintain client independence and confidence. All volunteers are PVG Scheme checked, and induction and training is provided. A full role description and application is available on request.

    Training provided:Their Training Coordinator gives an induction presentation and provides awareness sessions on moving and handling, basic dementia and advanced dementia. On the job training is provided within the session by the Session Coordinator. From time to time external trainers visit to provide groups of staff/volunteers with additional training courses such as Emergency First Aid and Fire Safety Awareness.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Travel expense are reimbursed at 45p per mile within the Glenrothes boundary for those driving in, and bus fare capped at 5 per session on receipt of tickets.

    Experience required:Experience of working with/caring for older people, including people with dementia is desirable, however training is provided. A caring, professional approach to others is essential, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team. Reliability and a commitment to volunteering is also desirable.

    Travel DetailsTheir Day Sessions all run at 100 Scott Rd, Glenrothes, KY6 1AE. The location is within walking distance from the town centre and bus station and is on a bus route. There is street parking available.
