    About this opportunity:1 in 5 Children in the UK have suffered abuse, robbing them of their childhood. That's why the NSPCC Schools Service "Speak Out Stay Safe" Programme is visiting primary schools across Scotland to give children the knowledge they need to stay safe from harm and to speak out if they are worried. Our specially trained volunteers deliver interactive assemblies and workshops with the help of our mascot, Buddy. We cover topics like bullying and abuse, but without using any scary words or adult language. We give a presentation in assemblies and workshops for children aged 5-7 & 8-11. Pupils learn about the different types of abuse in a child-friendly and age appropriate way so they can get help if and when they need it. We help them identify an trusted adult they can talk to if they are every worries about themselves or a friend. And they learn about Childline, and how it can support them. You'll need to be the kind of person who believes in the empowerment and protection of all children, has the confidence to speak in front of a group of primary school children , can communicate and engage with children, has basic IT skills and regular access to own transport and to email.You will be a member of a team committed and supportive volunteers who love working with children.

    Minimum age:17
    Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
    Training provided:An extensive induction process with practice sessions, home study, attendance at a two-day training course and multiple school visits to help you learn the material. And don't worry - you will get plenty of support throughout the time that you volunteer with us.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Mileage is paid at 45p per mile upon submission of a valid claim.

    Experience required:While we're committed to training volunteers, applicants do need to meet certain criteria for this role. Can you demonstrate the following: a genuine passion for helping children and young people, a sensitive and supporting nature, the ability to think on your feet, the desire to make an impact, the ability to work in a team, Basic IT skills and email skills, empathetic and non-judgmental attitude
