    About this opportunity:Aberlour are recruiting Befrienders to work with young people living in their residential services who have experienced trauma or abuse. Befrienders will help young people engage in activities, develop their social skills and build confidence. They pride themselves on their person centered focus and strong commitment to the individual development of each child, emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually. They are recruiting volunteer Befrienders to build relationships with children and young people in their residential child care services in fife.

    Tuesdays
    Wednesdays
    Thursdays
    Fridays
    Saturdays
    Sundays
    Minimum age:18
    Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
    Training provided:Prior to volunteering, new volunteers will be provided with an induction to Aberlour and training in Child Protection and adult protection and Attachment and Resilence. The volunteer will also be required to attend ongoing relevant training as identified by the service.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Any expenses incurred in this role will be reimbursed. Volunteers should submit expenses monthly

    Experience required:Volunteers would benefit from having: • A genuine interest in the well-being of children and young people • Experience working with children and young people • Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting children and young people • A non-judgmental, empathetic attitude • Ability to encourage and motivate young people to participate in activities • To have a positive and encouraging approach to young people • Be enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, and committed
