We're looking for volunteers to visit older people in their homes to provide friendly social contact and help them to maintain their independence. Tasks may include providing regular contact and chatting, carrying out 'safe, warm and well' checks, practical help such as post office/prescription collections, assisted shopping, care of pets, occasional help within the home like organisation of post, help accessing transport and other services. You can give as much or as little time as you like.
no upper age limit has been specified
Volunteers will receive induction before the first tasks, this goes through policies and procedures and gives contact details for support. Volunteers can 'buddy' an experienced volunteer for a while if required.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - Volunteers are paid 45p per mile or public transport costs, plus any other reasonable out of pocket expenses.
Volunteers must be caring, sympathetic, patient, honest and reliable with good communication and listening skills.
