    About this opportunity:Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Trust is responsible for preserving and maintaining Kirkcaldy Old Kirk as a community venue, heritage centre and community music hub. The Trust is looking to grow their team with Visitor Guides.
    The Heritage Visitor Guide may show visitors round Kirkcaldy Old Kirk, conduct tours of the graveyard or act as an Exhibition Guide. Activities include learning about the history of the Old Kirk and sharing this with visitors. Guides may take visitors up the old tower to ring the bell, conduct tories on Stones tours of the graveyard or show visitors the highlights of the Old Kirk, including the spectacular stained-glass windows. Alternatively, the volunteer may carry out research and help set up exhibitions and new heritage tours. There are also opportunities for volunteers with sewing skills to make costumes for iving History events if they wish.

    Training provided:An induction is provided, and the volunteer will be given a named contact. The induction will cover a brief history of the KOKT and the roles and responsibilities of volunteers, the policies and procedures as they appertain to the volunteers and an introduction to the named person for their role. The procedure for claiming expenses will be covered. A tour of the building and gardens and a chance to shadow an experienced volunteer will be offered before the volunteer runs their first tour. Welcome host training, first aid training and specific training on how to set up an exhibition will be given. Ongoing additional training will be provided as required.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Travel expenses will be paid monthly however individual arrangements for payment can be agreed. Public transport rates of 40p per mile apply.

    Experience required:Experience required: Interest in local history, good communication skills, friendly, flexible and a commitment to good customer care.

    Travel DetailsThe Old Kirk is situated in Central Kirkcaldy on Kirk Wynd. Easy Reach of bus and train stations, although actual book keeping can be performed at home and meetings set up online or in person to your convenience
