  About this opportunity:	Do you enjoy driving? Could you give up a few hours a week to help people get to hospital for dialysis treatment? St John Scotland is looking for volunteer drivers aged between 25-80 to support our patient transport service  •  St John Scotland works in partnership with NHS Fife to provide patient transport for people attending renal clinics  •  As a Patient Transport Driver, it will be your role to transport renal patients to and from the Renal Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline or Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy  •  This service is completely free to patients  •  Drivers will need to collect a St John Scotland vehicle before collecting and dropping off the patient(s) and drivers are subject to a driving assessment and PVG  •
  Takes place:	mornings afternoons evenings Mondays Tuesdays Wednesdays Thursdays Fridays Saturdays Sundays
  Minimum age:	25
  Maximum age:	80
  Training provided:	Volunteers will be fully inducted into the role, undertake volunteer training, an informal driving assessment and continuous training is offered for all volunteers.
  Out of pocket expenses paid?	Yes - Volunteers travel expenses are reimbursed at 45p per mile when using own vehicle. This happens once a month upon receipt of an expenses form and receipts (if available)
  Experience required:	• You must be between 25 – 80 years old • Hold a full driving licence (and a min. of 2 years full licence) and be a competent driver with no more than 3 points • Outgoing and welcoming personality • Ability to communicate with patients and fellow drivers accordingly • Great sense of responsibility and commitment • Able to record mileage and expenses
  Restrictions on who can volunteer	Lower age is an insurance requirement for the volunteering role as a St John Scotland car is used for this service.

  Travel Details	Volunteer drivers collect passengers from their homes at a pre-arranged time, convey them to the clinic and return them home after treatment.
