  About this opportunity:	The Comradeship Circles service aims to reduce loneliness by offering older members of the ex-service community the opportunity to enjoy regular group camaraderie by telephone  •  A Comradeship Circle will host typically six people on the same day and time each week to chat about a range of topics and interests over the phone  •  A volunteer facilitator or Supervisor will be every call to encourage discussion and ensure the conversation flows  •  We are looking for technical support volunteers who will ensure the smooth running of the Comradeship Circle by connecting veterans to the call, monitoring connection throughout the hour, and updating the contact management database  •  This role is home based and requires access to a laptop, headphones and the internet  •  Internet capable device with strong WiFi connection  •  Use of personal laptop with functioning microphone and speakers/headphones  •  Access to a quiet space within own home or similar  •  Weekly communication with supervisor to support delivery of circles and how we can support you in your role  •  To attend Age Scotland induction training, including Older Veterans' Awareness  •
  Takes place:	mornings afternoons evenings Mondays Tuesdays Wednesdays Thursdays Fridays Saturdays Sundays

  Training provided:	All Age Scotland Volunteers will be taken through our bespoke Volunteer Journey. This includes initial and on-going training by your Volunteer Supporter and Volunteer development & training officer. Training includes Diversity & inclusion, GDPR, Dementia and Veterans training. Volunteers will be supported throughout their journey with us, with regular 1-1's with your volunteer supporter to ensure you feel comfortable and confident in your role.
  Out of pocket expenses paid?	Yes - Volunteers will be reimbursed for all necessary travel required for this role (e.g meetings or training)
  Experience required:	Required qualities and experience: agreeing and complying with Age Scotland's policies and procedures, an understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities. Required Skills: Communication, active listening and clear speaking, People skills: the ability to interact effectively with a range of people. Caring and friendly nature to help people feel comfortable and encourage their active participation

  Travel Details	The Friendship Caller role is entirely remote! To get involved, all you need is an internet capable device and a strong Wifi connection. Friendship Callers can also volunteer in the Age Scotland offices in Causewayside, Edinburgh, but this is not essential.
