    About this opportunity:Seescape social groups provide people living with visual impairments in Fife the chance to get together with others, receive peer support & enjoy company & activities
     •  Local groups meet up across Fife on a regular basis providing a lifeline for people who are affected by visual impairments
     •  It is hoped the social groups can get back together again in local venues, with volunteers who would be willing to help out at these groups, Glenrothes & Dunfermline particularly
     •  Tasks can involve: escorting clients to/from transport to venue
     •  providing sighted assistance at venues, preparing and serving refreshments, welcoming new members, having a chat, helping other volunteers organise and facilitate activities, making sure participants can enjoy activities safely and offering assistance where needed
     •  Groups meet up weekly/fortnightly
     •  You will are asked to commit to regular attendance, travel independently to and from venues, be warm and friendly as well as using initiative where required to help with the overall smooth running of the activities

    Training provided:Induction training provided as will the opportunity, when available, to do Sighted Assistance Training. It is a requirement, that volunteers actively feedback what their training and learning needs are, and make themselves aware of the policies and procedures which affected their responsibilities/role.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Reasonable travel costs reimbursed, for volunteers who travel via car this is 45p a mile. It is expected volunteers would not be travelling/claiming more than 10 miles to get to a venue where meetings take place, unless absolutely necessary or if agreed that will be transporting client/s. Full driver checks required (including insurance, MOT and driving license).

    Experience required:Warm, friendly and welcoming Excellent all-round communication skills Good social interaction with staff, volunteers and clients at all levels Good organisation skills. Awareness of general health and safety.

    Travel DetailsOld Parish Centre, Short Ln, Cupar KY15 5EQ During the pandemic some groups have facilitated group telephone calls for members to join in so the flexibility to assist with phone calls would be an advantage (this may involve, but is not limited to: organising guest speakers, calling individual members to remind them and check in on their generally wellbeing, facilitating discussion and informal chats around topics of interest).
