    About this opportunity:The Byre Theatre was founded in 1933 and has been providing arts and entertainment to the people of North East Fife (and beyond) ever since
     •  it has been part of the University of St
     •  Andrews since 2014 and is a respected venue for theatre, music, dance, festivals, comedy, films, socialising and learning
     •  The Byre Theatre is looking for sociable, community minded people to join their friendly Front of House team, who welcome people to the theatre and (quite often) get to see the shows and meet the artists
     •  The Byre team appreciate the support of volunteers in delivering this busy programme and aim to support you, no matter what your motivation is: to gain work experience, meet new friends, improve your confidence or a love of arts and culture
     •  opportunities as a volunteer: working with the friendly and expert Byre team and learning how a professional theatre works Day and Evening Front of House fro performances and events As the first point of contact for customers, you are given customer service training Training in First Aid and access (including relaxed and Dementia Friendly performances) Training in emergeny and evacuation procedures Other training as and when required the Byre's Volunteers say that their favourite part of the work is meeting lovely people and being part of the theatre
     •  The Byre Theatre are always looking for fun, vibrant people with with a love of theatre to join their volunteer Byre programme
     •  the volunteers will benefit from complementary tickets for Byre shows, work with team Byre to ensure audience members have a safe and enjoyable visit
    Takes place:
    Minimum age:18
    Maximum age:100
    Training provided:tour of building and introductions to staff. formal training in all health and safety aspects of the work, including evacuation and helping disabled customers by the Head of Visitors Services, Front of House Management and/or technical Team training in systems including ice cream sales, cash handling procedures and use of comms including radios informal customer service training is given by Head of Visitor services and Marketing Team Workplace training in helping Disabled customers, including for relaxed and dementia Friendly performances will be given when required There will always be an opportunity to speak to a Front of House Manger or the Head of Visitor Services if there are any questions or issues

    Experience required:The Byre Theatre expects volunteers to be: enthusiastic, reliable and courteous, have a friendly attitude an a smile appreciate and respect other volunteers maintain a respectable apperance, the dress being smart (blouse or shirt will be provided) commit to your volunteering resposibilites, attend training and briefing sessions, adhere to safety and safeguarding policies and respect confidentiality don't discriminate against or harass others share concerns and ask for help if required
