    About this opportunity:There are groups across Fife that meet monthly and are run by and for adults with learning disabilities
     •  This includes groups for Men and Women and for people living in hospital
     •  Volunteer advisors support and facilitate members' roles within the groups
     •  Within all groups, members are always: Advised of their rights
     •  Accepted as individual human beings with thoughts and feelings
     •  Respected and encouraged to make choices
     •  Provided with information
     •  Supported to learn new skills
     •  Supported to develop discussion and other social interaction skills
     •  Supported to understand structures within: health, social work and local government

    Training provided:Induction training is delivered at organisational head office in Edinburgh once advisor has completed application and been through interview and accepted by the Board of Directors. Support thereafter is provided by local Development Workers.

    Yes - Volunteers advisors self-travel and expenses are paid for mileage, etc.

    Experience required:Patience, good listener, ability to communicate, non-judgemental, some understanding of basic human rights, ability to support without taking over, able to give time to preparation for meetings and for personal supervision and support.

    Volunteers are restricted to males for Men's Group and females for Women's Group.
