    About this opportunity:Fairway Fife is a Peer Mentoring Charity supporting people with learning disabilities and autism from 16 years of age
     •  Fairway Fife recognises that all people regardless of ability or disability have their own unique gifts and strengths to contribute positively to their own community
     •  By recruiting, training and professionally supporting, committed volunteers of a similar age (Peer Mentors), our members are helped to live their dreams through accessing the everyday experiences that non-disabled Mentors will take for granted
     •  This could be a simple as going bowling, shopping, clubbing or just 'hanging out' with a pizza and a DVD or chatting about everyday issues most people will face, in a safe, natural environment
     •  There are many opportunities available to Peer Mentors such as completing Youth Achievement Awards, Saltire Awards, points towards Degree courses, etc
     •  - not to mention making new friends and having fun - all for free!!
    Takes place:
    Minimum age:16
    Maximum age:25
    Training provided:There is a mandatory 6 hour course on 'The Role of a Mentor' and Child Protection training , then a personal development training programme will be set up to support the ongoing needs of the individual Mentor, such as First Aid Training, Signalong, Food Hygiene, Wheelchair Support, Emergency Evacuation, Fire Safety, Disability and Epilepsy Awareness, plus many others.

    Yes - All out of pocket expenses are either paid in advance or immediately on production of a receipt.

    Experience required:Volunteers must have an openness to people with disabilities, non-judgemental attitude, a willingness to help others strive to fulfil their own potential and dreams and an ability to recognise each individual's talents and strengths. Also need reliability and availability to commit to training both mandatory and personal development training.

    To become a Peer Mentor, volunteers must be aged 16-25 years of age.
