Volunteering Opportunity: VO67339
Volunteer Entertainer with Scottish Mining Convalescent Trust.
Created/last updated: 04/08/2020
About this opportunity:
The Trust requires a volunteer to get involved in social activities, who loves talking to older people and getting them involved, whether it's playing cards or dominoes, calling bingo numbers or holding a creative session drawing, painting or another craft skill • Sometimes just being around to befriend people and have a cup of tea with them •
The Trust is a charity which brings mining families and miners' relatives along for a holiday and we offer full bed & board • The Trust has 8 day staff to deliver the services and there is a gap in the provision of entertainment/befriending/activities for the residents and we would like a volunteer to hold craft sessions, play games, or any activity that the residents are interested in • There is a minibus available for trips and someone with a full licence would be very useful • Fundraising events such as a Casino night or Murder Mystery are also held •
no upper age limit has been specified
Training and support will be given for the time anyone is here, from basic Health & Safety to vehicle use (including tail lift usage), fire safety and further job skills in the building if the volunteers want it to help them get a full-time job.
